CRITS - Critical Reflection and Introspection Through Storytelling
CRITS was an experience that was a game of DND, where you get to build a character and then play in that persons shoes for a number of weeks as they are guided through a story. My favorite part about the experience is that I was able to play a character that was very anxious and easily worried, but by the end of the story, they were able to move past their anxieties to try and help their friends. I related to Kaz in a lot of ways because I am a naturally anxious person but I try not to appear that way and I try to cover it up with kindness and confidence. So to get to play a character that is outwardly anxious was very comforting in a way, because it allowed me to know that my anxieties are not necessarily a bad thing, and that I can move past them. The world itself focused on themes of classism where those with more innate magic abilities were more valued than those without. Playing in this world gave me the ability to look at the real world through another lens and see some of our bigotry more clearly.
