2024-2025

I have survived my third year of college and have finally figured out the path I want to walk. At least, that is how it feels as of right now. There was a lot of back and forth last summer and at the beginning of the year on whether I still wanted to pursue this major that I had started or if I still wanted to study to be a doctor. All of the shadowing I had done up until that point had pointed me in a different direction, towards nursing. Over the past year, I have begun to take some of the prerequisites for the Accelerated Masters in Nursing Program here at UC. As you can imagine, changing plans like that is a relief and a bit of an identity crisis, but I have had an amazing community of friends to support me throughout this journey. I have been helping to build out a community here on campus this past year, one I entered completely randomly but one that has truly been a rock for me. I discovered swing dancing this past year and was Social Media Secretary of HEPCATS, the swing dancing club on campus. That community of people, meeting every Tuesday, encouraging me to step out of whatever academic hole I had put myself into, truly helped me push through. I am currently set to be president of that club this coming year. Having a community, and having close friends that you can lean on when you are struggling, I have found that that is one of the most valuable things that one can find. I was a mentor for Honors Freshman this fall and one of the first things I would encourage them to do was try to find their people, a place they felt they belonged. That feeling can do wonders when you feel like the world is against you or the tests have piled up.

Here I would just like to showcase some of the wonderful people that made this year and semester possible for me.
